Pennywise - Terms of Service

1. What Pennywise is

Pennywise is a personal-finance app that reads the financial transaction alert SMS messages on your device, categorizes the transactions they describe, and helps you track spending, budgets, and subscriptions. Its AI features run on your device. Pennywise is a tool, not a financial institution, and it does not move money, hold funds, or give financial advice.

2. Your account and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pennywise. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for it.

3. Your data

You retain all rights to the messages and financial records on your device. Pennywise processes them on-device to provide its features. The limited data that leaves your device is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse-engineer the model-distribution service to redistribute the on-device model,
• use Pennywise for unlawful purposes or to violate others’ privacy,
• interfere with or disrupt the service.

5. The on-device model

Pennywise downloads an AI model to your device. The model is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use inside Pennywise. It is provided “as is,” and you are responsible for the device it is stored on.

6. No financial advice

Nothing Pennywise produces is financial, tax, or investment advice. Category predictions, subscription detection, and assistant answers are automated estimates and may be wrong. Verify anything that matters before acting on it.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pennywise is provided without warranties of any kind, and the developers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Changes

If these terms change materially, we will update them here and in the app’s About screen. Continuing to use Pennywise after a change means you accept the updated terms.
